Academic Biography
Li Shujuan is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at National Taiwan University. She earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy from University of Tokyo, where her research focused on the transformation of classical Yijing scholarship during the Song-Ming period.
Professor Li's work centers on the comparative study of the two most influential Yijing commentaries in Chinese history: Cheng Yi's Commentary on the Zhouyi (程氏易传) and Zhu Xi's Original Meaning of the Zhouyi (周易本义). Her research reveals how these Song dynasty scholars reshaped the way the I Ching was read — shifting emphasis from divination toward moral philosophy and self-cultivation.
At I Ching Wisdom, Professor Li contributes historical perspective to articles about accuracy, interpretation, and the philosophical traditions that have shaped how modern readers engage with the Book of Changes.
